Regenerative Medicine

At Omega Medical Group (OMG), our team of specialists is always looking for new techniques and technologies to help our patients get better, faster—so they can return to living their best life without pain as quickly and safely as possible. That’s why we’re proud to offer a number of regenerative medicine options.

What Is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is all about “unlocking” your body’s own natural mechanisms for healing and repairing damaged tissues. This is a revolutionary approach to treatment that has the potential to provide full restoration and healing for even very stubborn or severe conditions that were previously thought to be only manageable rather than treatable—or only treatable through surgery. Regenerative medicine technologies use your own cells to replace or repair damaged ones. This could be achieved by delivering specific types of cell tissue to damaged or diseased areas of the body, or it could be accomplished by stimulating the cells already there to increase their metabolism and energize their natural healing abilities. At our office, we use regenerative medicine as an extremely effective alternative to surgery that can help many people get back on their feet without pain quickly, without the need for invasive procedures or long recovery phases.

Stem Cell Therapy (Clarix Flo)

Stem cells are extremely versatile. While, for example, an ordinary skin, muscle, or blood cell can only create other cells of the same type, stem cells are able to divide and grow into almost any type of cell the body needs it to be. This processes is called differentiation. Placental tissue has unique, innate immunomodulation abilities, decreasing inflammation through an increase in anti-inflammatory signaling. This process promotes a regenerative healing environment, and is useful for the management of chronic plantar fasciitis, sprains, Achilles tendinosis, and partial tears without the complications of corticosteroids or surgery. These are an easy in-office solution. Regenerative medicine injections (Clarix Flo) allows the cells to rapidly multiply and flourish, and is an alternative when conservative treatment fails. Clarix Flo can significantly reduce pain and disability associated with these injuries. The injected materials are all voluntarily donated amniotic membrane and umbilical cord tissue from healthy babies delivered by Cesarean section. These items are ordinarily discarded after birth, but can be preserved for medical use. All donated placental tissue is rigorously screened, cleaned, and processed to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Is Regenerative Medicine Right for You?

At OMG, we understand that every patient who walks through our doors has a unique set of needs—lifestyle, financial, personal—and therefore needs a treatment approach that is personalized to suit them best. In general, regenerative medicine techniques are selected in instances when more traditional conservative methods alone (such as physical therapy or orthotics) haven’t worked or are unlikely to work. These older methods do have a high success rate overall, but in the instances where they aren’t quite enough, regenerative solutions offer a promising alternative that avoids invasive techniques and surgery. Advanced regenerative medicine techniques may also be recommended for those who simply need to relieve pain as fast as possible, because they don’t have time to wait—for example, collegiate and professional athletes, or those who work all day on their feet. As always, the experts at OMG will take all the time necessary to explain your condition, the pros and cons of all your medical options, and then help you arrive at a treatment strategy that makes the best sense for your pain, personal goals, and budget.
